Challenge

Our redesign focuses on creating a flexible design system that supports future platform growth. By developing a comprehensive color palette, icon system, and motion guidelines, we aim to create an interface that serves both novice and experienced crypto users.

Key objectives

Solution & Direction

Usability Test on Existing Development

Faced with limited initial guidance, I conducted a comprehensive usability test of the mobile app. The research covered every app interaction, involving 12+ user testing interviews to gather in-depth user feedback. During these sessions, I documented:

Standardizing the Icon System

The existing icon set had too many styles for the UI to read as consistent, sizing and color that hurt readability, and no light-mode-friendly variants. We standardized on a single, consistent icon per user behavior and one cohesive icon family per related action group.

Building Dark/Light Mode

Using Figma’s color tools, we tested combinations directly against the existing UI rather than in isolation, landing on a neutral grey (#8598A7) and a highlight green (#00A48F) that worked in both themes.

Outcome

We shipped the revamped Asset and Earn flows with a card layout and updated tab menu that streamlined information access, and enlarged, highlighted action buttons for the functions users rely on most. The result was a more coherent, easier-to-navigate product, with a documented color, icon, and motion system that gives the team room to keep building without relitigating those decisions each time.
